LSE to Offer Online Crypto Course

An online crypto course has been introduced by the prestigious London-based university – London School of Economics (LSE). The course is expected to start at the beginning of August this year.

This new course is called ‘Cryptocurrency Investment and Disruption’. It aims to help students learn ‘practical skills to interact with cryptocurrency exchanges.’ The skills include how to use crypto wallets, and how to evaluate initial coin offerings (ICOs).

The course will consist of six different modules equaling to 60 hours of class time and will cost around $2116. The course will be headed by the Associate Professor of Information Systems and Innovation, Dr. Carsten Sørensen.

Recently, University of Malta had also announced a course related to crypto. Now, LSE has joined the growing list of leading and prestigious institutions offering crypto classes such as Stanford, Wharton, Northwestern, Cambridge, NYU, and Georgetown, and many other top-notch institutions.

It will probably start on August 14th, 2018, and will take approximately six weeks to complete (excluding orientation) with an estimated commitment of about seven to ten hours per week. The course is also certified by the United Kingdom CPD Certification Service.

London School of Economics explained the motive of the course by stating that,

“For over one hundred years, LSE’s motto has been to ‘understand the causes of things’. This online certificate course pairs practical crypto asset knowledge with the theoretical thought leadership for which LSE is renowned. You will not be given cryptocurrency investing advice, or investment or financial advice of any nature.”

Students will also explore how cryptocurrencies will shape the future of markets, industries and most importantly, how crypto will shape the future of money. The course will provide the knowledge, information and framework of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology which is needed to understand how blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies operate and the implications for business and the economy.
