Blockchain-Based Voting System a Success in Crypto Valley

Zug is an 800-year old lakeside town in Switzerland with a population of 30,000 people. It has become the “Crypto Valley” of the World and one of the major capitals of the blockchain world too, after being one of the Tax Havens on earth. The city of Zug has successfully completed its very first test of a local blockchain-based voting system.

The city launched an e-voting platform which was built on blockchain technology as a part of the city’s efforts to develop the technology. The voting happened between 25th June and 1st July. The system stored the information about polling and the ID’s of residents. The technical details of the voting process will be evaluated gradually.

The aim of the blockchain-based voting system is to make the voting process less susceptible to unnoticed manipulation and hence, make voting a safer process. The system of e-voting was developed by a software company named Luxoft which is based in Zug. It was developed in collaboration with the city and the Department of computer science at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences.
