Amazon Introduces AWS Blockchain Templates
Amazon’s cloud computing arm, Amazon Web Services (AWS), has come up with a new service that would facilitate the launch of out-of-the-box networks for Hyperledger Fabric and ethereum protocols.
The blog post they published on Wednesday said that Jeff Barr, chief evangelist at AWS, wrote that these templates would allow clients “launch an ethereum (either public or private) or Hyperledger Fabric (private) network in a matter of minutes and with just a few clicks.” He further explained:
“The templates create and configure all of the AWS resources needed to get you going in a robust and scalable fashion.”
Blockchain templates would “provide a fast and easy way to create and deploy secure blockchain networks using open source frameworks.” With Blockchain technology, it is feasible to applications wherein there can be multiple parties recording the transactions. This relieves them of the need for a central authority responsible for ensuring that the transactions are indeed verified and secure.
Their blog post provides a lot of detailed instructions about how to go about setting up an ethereum template supporting mining, an EthStats page providing network metrics, and an EthExplorer tool which displays the smart contracts and transactions which are entered in the ledger.
The best part of using AWS Blockchain templates is the fact that it Amazon wouldn’t charge you for using the template. All they would charge you for are the AWS resources you are using to run the blockchain network.
AWS has seen sales increase by 43 percent last year and 55 percent in 2016. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that AWS is one of the fastest-growing segments of Amazon’s business. AWS faces a fierce competition with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
Amazon, along with Starbucks, had announced last month that it would enter the world of cryptos by incorporating cryptos and the blockchain technology in their operations.
